Farranamanagh Loop Walk
We meet in the coffee shop at the Old Creamery in time to start the walk at 10:30 am. Heading east along the road, then ascending northwards to view the Bronze Age Stone Row; one of the best examples on the Peninsula.
Onwards then to the Ring Fort at Derryclovane; we turn southwards enjoying the wonderful views over Dunmanus Bay. We'll pass through the ruined settlement at Dromnea to hear a tale or two from times past and then on to the mystical Well of the Poets. This area of Farranamanagh also once housed the famous Bardic School and O'Daly Castle.
We now turn for home along Farranamanagh Beach and Lake, over the fields passing by an interesting structure believed to be the remains of an ancient Sweat Lodge. The last leg of the walk takes us back along the main road into Kilcrohane Village where we can end our journey at the coffee shop or Eileen's pub - you choose!
