Old Kilcrohane Road Walk
We meet in the coffee shop at the Old Creamery in time to start the walk around 9:00 - 9:30 am. The walk will take us along Faranamanagh Beach and Lake, then up to the site of the former Bardic School.
From there, we head along to the original Kilcrohane-Ahakista road; taking time to reflect at the Poet's Well, before heading east along the old road towards Ahakista. We'll take a break at the recently rediscovered Stone Circle a beautiful place to wonder and contemplate.
Leaving Ahakista, the road takes a steady climb up the south ridge of Rosskerrig Mountain joining Windy Gap; passing the old Four Corner Stone and peat bogs long since abandoned.
On to the highest ridge on the peninsula, Seefin at 345 metres; a wonderful spot to take another break and enjoy some of the best views in Ireland. The descent down past the seat of Finn Macool and the statue of the Virgin Mary takes us to the Goats Path. If the legs and heart are willing we can take a short detour up Peakeen Ridge to the Passage Tomb.
From there we can enjoy a easy walk back down the Goats Path with a short detour to Ardahill Ring Fort and back to base camp, the coffee shop or Fitzpatrick's pub for a pint if you prefer!
